WEB DEVELOPER
Westrum & Brown has an immediate opening for the position of Web Design- Web Development. This position is responsible for collecting, converting, and editing text and graphical materials provided by clients for design prototypes. The Web Design - Web Development role also incorporates special Web features and proprietary functionality and integrates Websites into proprietary applications. This role receives and fulfills ongoing maintenance requests for graphical, text, and coding changes to production Westrum & Brown and performs testing to ensure that minimal errors are found in production Westrum & Brown. Additionally, the Web Design - Web Development role also codes websites to optimize layout of materials, site performance and cross-browser compatibility. This position is part of our Customer Operations department.
Primary responsibilities of this role are as follow:
Initial website production/maintain existing firm websites:
- Graphics: Update, modify and correct graphical design elements, including navigation and names images; Correct or recreate graphical files that are incomplete, outdated or missing; create headers; handle any other graphical requests.
- Content: Interpret content and design layout requests to update or correct content/formatting on customer websites; move content from old sites to new sites; correct HTML as necessary.
- Navigation/Links: Ensure page links are accurate; update or correct navigational images.
- Integrate websites and other products into proprietary Westrum & Brown applications.
- QA websites and other products as they are released. Ensure released Westrum & Brown meet established standards, including graphics, content, and performance.
- Work cross-functionally with designers, content writers, project managers, and other contributors to ensure site is released on-time with a high level of customer satisfaction. Follow-up to resolve any issues with site/product.
- Write and utilize HTML, XHTML and CSS to add/modify features to better fit into the sites’s structure as necessary.
- Hold final accountability for quality of HTML, CSS & XML coding on the site.
Other Key Responsibilities:
- Attend and participate in team meetings.
- Prioritize own workload based on input from Project Managers, Designers, Account Managers, Team Lead, and Manager.
- Interact with external customers on a limited basis to troubleshoot and resolve technical support issues regarding websites.
- Document processes and procedures as necessary.
- Represent department/team on cross-departmental task forces and projects (e.g. new system requirements, cost estimates, new system testing, template development etc.).
- In alignment with business objectives, improve production quality and efficiency, as necessary. Analyze root quality and/or efficiency problems, and recommend action plans to address them.
- Mentor, train, and help provide work direction for contract employees as necessary.
- Provide support for vendor partners as necessary; Assist vendors with clarification and prioritization issues; Track vendor performance and provide regular feedback to vendors and management to improve process.
- Train/mentor other Web Producers as needed.
Education and Experience:
- 2-year degree or certificate in a related field required. 4-year college degree preferred.
2+ years of related experience in web design and/or web coding.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of HTML, XHTML and CSS
- Strong knowledge of graphics programs (e.g. Adobe Photoshop or Fireworks).
- Strong knowledge of technology used by the department for maintaining websites (e.g., Macromedia Homesite).
- Strong knowledge of interactive interface tools (e.g. Macromedia Flash).
- Strong knowledge of XML.
- Strong time management skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with external clients as necessary.

CLIENT DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANT
If you are an ambitious self-starter with high energy, motivated to succeed, and love to develop new accounts, then consider the following opening for a Client Development Consultant! The Client Development Consultant will be responsible for developing new customer accounts, while growing revenue with existing accounts to sell the Westrum & Brown and other business channels of our parent company, web based marketing and advertising products within the state of Iowa. The open territory will be primarily based out of the Des Moines, Iowa. Interested candidates with a proven successful background of outside consultative sales for intangible products are preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use your superior selling skills to prospect, cold call and to strategically grow a select customer base that includes lawyers, salons, spas, art galleries, and other prospective customers.
- Demonstrate to the customer web based advertisement and marketing strategies that will improve their ability to direct and generate business to their organization.
- Be responsible for the attainment of sales targets and quota on a monthly basis, complete weekly sales performance reports and provide territory information regarding market intelligence and penetration.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 2 years past proven successful outside sales experience in professional markets. Prefer online or advertising selling experience.
- Proven track record developing new customer accounts with little brand equity requiring the Outside Sales Representative to prospect, cold call, set appointments and close the sale.
- Proven track record with sales success, fast growth and hitting performance target at 100%.
- Must be able to understand client’s business strategies and the application of technology solutions to business problems while interacting with clients.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interpret marketplace needs and translate them into products and/or services.
- Successful experience selling a product requiring a shorter sales cycle and creating urgency in the sale.
- Must possess excellent communication and time management skills. Must be highly skilled in Internet applications and MS Office.
- Four year degree required.
